Work with formatting, images and colours from one place in Word

EssentialTools is a range of features gathered in your company’s own ribbon in Word, PowerPoint and Excel. EssentialTools for Word consists of a number of productivity tools created by SkabelonDesign to make you more efficient. E.g. this allows you to customise your images in Word and work with your company’s colours. In addition, we have taken a number of standard Microsoft Office features and moved them to EssentialTools, so you do not have to waste time searching for the functions you use the most. We have gathered everything in one ribbon – to save both you and your colleagues time.

EssentialTools for Word is a solution that improves your efficiency in Word. You save time and get access to specially developed features that make you effective. Some features of EssentialTools also help secure your brand, e.g. by giving you access to templates and styles.


1. Use the right template

Access to company templates directly in Word. The templates are stored locally, and you decide their number and design. That way, employees will always use the right the fonts, colours and other elements from your visual identity. You can read more about Word templates here.

2. Work efficiently in Word

EssentialTools for Word contains a number of productivity-focused tools, allowing you greater efficiency.

Show/hide allows you to choose whether certain items should be displayed or hidden in the document. You decide yourself which elements it should be possible to show or hide, but they may be e.g. logo, address, or other graphic elements. For example, show/hide makes sense if you need to print your document but want to save a little toner.

Update Fields allows you to update any reference fields in the entire document with a single click. Refresh e.g. table of contents, headers and footers and other references with one click, and release to update each reference field separately.

Paste and formatting is a tool that gives you access to features that make it easier to insert text and other elements. You can insert as an image, remove all formatting from what you want to insert or paste without formatting. You save time because the features are only a click away, and you can choose what to do with inserted elements, even before you insert them – a choice you can normally only make retroactively in Word.

3. One-click text formatting

Your company’s own style set. Direct access to formatting text in line with the company’s visual identity. Always use the correct fonts in the right sizes, cuts, colours, etc. It is easy to work with styles, as the most frequently used styles are available directly from your EssentialTools ribbon.

4. Work with your images

The ImageTools category allows you to work with your images in Word in the most optimal way.

Among others, ImageTools includes the functions crop, fill, fit, compress and reset, standard for Microsoft Office Word. Here, you simply have them available directly in a ribbon where the most frequently used tools are gathered.

In addition, ImageTools contains an insert function that automatically adjusts the image you insert to the placeholder you paste it to. Something which Word cannot otherwise handle. The paste function does the same, only it takes the image from your clipboard (if e.g. you copied an image from somewhere else) and inserts a tailored version of it in the placeholder.

5. Use the right colours

The Colors tools allow you to work quickly and efficiently with colours in Word. The Fill Color and Font Color features work as you know them from Word, but also offer the option to define which colours are available. These may be your corporate colour theme, a list of custom colours or standard MS Office colours.
